THE
COSSACK ESCAPE TO AMERICA
To escape the Bolshevik Reds in the 1920’s, many
White Cossacks fled to Shanghai and Tientsin, China, there to established new
lives centered on Cossack Stanitzas. Then in the late
1940’s, as the Chinese Communists approached, these Cossack Stanitzas
organized their members and families to flee, first to the Philippines and
finally to America. Below are copies of some of the original records of their
ordeal. These records give individual biographies and personal details. As the
thank notes attest, the All Cossacks’ Union of San Francisco was a critical sponsorship
component of this mass immigration.
